Once again, King’s Gambit found success in 2020, though they didn’t repeat as IFL champions. With a lifetime 8-1 regular season record, they’re certainly a favorite to return to the IFL playoffs in 2021, especially now that they’ve added Bile (lifetime 7-5, 2.08 PDPB) back to the team. As a reminder, Bile went 3-0 in 2019 and gave up no more than 2 points in his bouts.

The rest of the 2020 team returns intact with 2 PowerHouse, 3 HeavyWeight, 1 MiddleWeight and 1 FlyWeight starting the 2021 season. There’s no reason to believe that there’ll be a drop-off in individual success meaning Xanth (3-0, 4.00 PDPB), Li Xiaofan (2-1, 3.00 PDPB), Olaf von Trunk (3-1, 3.75 PDPB), Sophia (2-1, 1.67 PDPB) and Renley (1-2, -1.67 PDPB) are all poised to have another solid run through the IFL field.

e 2020 ended in disappointment (a 19-27 match loss to Real Rhydin in the playoff semi-finals), Xanth has proven his captain’s mettle time and time again, deploying his brawlers with strategic brilliance and bringing home match win after match win (the guess here is that he spends each off-season reading every strategy book available in the Rhydin Public Library. They do let him in there again...right?). There’s no reason to doubt that success will wane this year and fans of this team should rightfully expect another championship banner.
