True to its name, Team New Blood had the most roster turnover and brings in a glut of IFL newcomers. This shouldn’t come as a surprise given the team’s struggles in 2020 and Captain LaFey must be hoping that this new blood results in more than a single match win. Still, Morgan should have found a way to hold onto Shelby Morano who was far and away TNB’s best brawler last season, instead of letting her spend the season zipping through the skies of Cadentia with the rest of the Humpback Squadron.

Morgan (2-2, 0.75 PDPB) enters the year as a HeavyWeight and Scarlett (1-1, -0.50 PDPB) is the reigning Kiowa Belt Winner, which gives her a leg (and fist!) up on the competition. Anya de la Rose starts off as a FlyWeight but the rest of the team makes their league debuts as Trainees, with only some having experience in other dueling venues. This might play out in TNB’s favor as one never quite knows what to expect from IFL rookies, who often surprise their opponents with moxie and grit. However, TNB had myriad Trainees at the start of last season and it didn’t pan out, meaning Morgan has to really be on top of his game with savvy matchup pairings.

It’s important to note that Morgan’s never fought a bout above the Crutch (2 Anchor, 2 Crutch) and Scarlett’s only logged a single match in the Push to go along with one Crutch bout. This means that someone’s getting thrown to the Iron Fist bout wolves early on, and probably often. Early-season success will make TNBs playoff hopes more realistic but if this team stumbles out of the gate, it’ll be tough to get momentum back on their side.
