In: Michelle Montoya (No team in 2020)
Despite losing more regular season bouts than they won in 2020, Real Rhydin hoisted its second IFL Championship banner at season’s end, proving once more that when playoffs begin, anything’s possible.
In 2021, the team re-adds a critical component in Michelle Montoya (lifetime 1-1, 1.00 PDPB). While Michelle has limited IFL experience, her accomplishments in Rhydin’s other dueling venues are well known and she’s currently the reigning Diamond in the Duel of Fists sport.
This season, the team opens the year with 1 PowerHouse, 3 HeavyWeights and 3 FlyWeights. The thing that should frighten the rest of the league is that there’s almost zero chance that Eden Parker (0-3, -5.67 PDPB) and Jaycy Ashleana (0-4, -4.25 PDPB), both very accomplished fighters in and out of the IFL rings, will go winless again. Outside of Jaycy and Eden, only Dakota Street (1-2, -0.33 PDPB), who was an IFL rookie, had a negative PDPB last season but she rebounded in the playoffs with a bout win. Gren Blockman (3-0, 7.00 PDPB) was 2nd on the overall 2020 Leaderboard while captain Hope Naharis (3-1, 3.25 PDPB) and Kheldar Drasinia (2-1, 2.00 PDPB) turned in solid seasons and 3 playoff bout wins.
Real Rhydin doesn’t seem poised for a letdown of any sort and will compete with King’s Gambit to be the class of the league in 2021. It’s a good bet that Real Rhydin will be part of the IFL Finals for the 4th year in a row and the team’s fans likely expect nothing less.
2021 Season Prediction: 4-1, 2nd place regular season
